Local uPVC Door Repairs
BLD Locksmith & Window Repairs handles uPVC door repairs across the City of London EC1-EC4. uPVC is the least relevant of our six sub-types in the Square Mile: it isn't consented on the Grade II-listed Barbican (1965-76, 2,014 flats, listed 2001) or Golden Lane Estate (1957-62, 559 flats, listed 1997), and the commercial skyscraper cluster from the Gherkin to 22 Bishopsgate is aluminium curtain-wall rather than uPVC.
Where uPVC does turn up is two pockets. The first is small landlord-converted upper-floor flats above EC1/EC2/EC3 retail — the rear and service doors on Cheapside, Bishopsgate, Gracechurch Street, Fenchurch Street, Aldgate and Houndsditch units. The second is the City of London Corporation's Middlesex Street Estate (Petticoat Lane, EC3 / E1 fringe) on certain ground-floor service and rear doors. Both cohorts are now 25-30 years old and gearbox failure, dropped hinges and worn keep plates are the recurring faults.
The other regular call is the cylinder upgrade — original 1990s/2000s locks that predate the TS007 3-star anti-snap standard introduced in 2011. We swap to Kitemarked TS007 3-star or Sold Secure Diamond cylinders sized to the existing door, so neither the multi-point lock nor the leaf is disturbed, and we routinely schedule retail rear-door work before opening hours to avoid disrupting trading. Also need a locksmith in the City of London? We cover that too.
